ERP para SLEPs: Management system for Chile's public education _
An ERP designed to solve the operational problems facing Local Public Education Services and their technical-pedagogical teams.
What are SLEPs?
Local Public Education Services (SLEPs) are the agencies that have administered public education in Chile since 2018. Each SLEP manages dozens of schools, thousands of students, and hundreds of staff across a given territory.
They replaced the former municipal education departments with the promise of professionalizing school management. But they inherited complex problems without modern tools to solve them: Excel spreadsheets, manual processes, and data scattered across multiple systems.
The Problem
SLEPs manage thousands of staff, schools, and students with tools that aren't up to the challenge. The result: classrooms without teachers, misallocated pedagogical resources, and millions of pesos lost every year to avoidable administrative errors.
A single management error in the School Integration Program (PIE) can mean $60 million pesos lost at one school. Every day without a teacher is a day without learning for dozens of students.
Concrete challenges
- •Slow teacher replacement management with no visibility, leaving classrooms without a teacher for days or weeks
- •PIE administration with complex hour and funding rules managed in error-prone spreadsheets
- •Academic performance, attendance, and support data scattered across multiple disconnected sources
What ERP para SLEPs does
The system addresses two major areas: managing critical resources and processes, and organizational diagnosis and development for each SLEP.
Critical resource and process management
Digitizes the operational workflows that consume most of the UATP teams' time: teacher replacements, PIE administration, and technical-pedagogical support tracking.
Organizational diagnosis and development
Measures the state of 8 organizational capabilities — Purpose, People, Processes, Technology, Structure, Ways of Working, Roles & Responsibilities, and Governance — on a 1-to-5 scale, generating roadmaps with concrete, prioritized actions.
How it works
ERP para SLEPs integrates data from multiple sources — standardized tests (Simce, DIA), school attendance, student surveys, classroom observations, and organizational assessments — into a unified platform.
Each user sees exactly what they need based on their role: teachers access their classroom results, school principals monitor their leadership dimensions, and SLEP directors have full visibility over capabilities and processes across their entire territory.
